Vitesse coach Aad de Mos feared for the biggest loss of his career. Ajax left his team without any chance this Sunday, but scored 'only' three goals in the lopsided match in the Amsterdam ArenA: 3-0.
If Klaas Jan Huntelaar was burdened by his goalscoring drought, then the striker found the perfect cure for his ailment: he scored two of Ajax's three goals. It was Vitesse that helped Huntelaar on his way. Goalkeeper Wapenaar and defender Sansoni made a mess of clearing the ball and Mauro Rosales picked it up. The right winger found Huntelaar who scored with a nice chip.
Rosales was also involved in Ajax's second goal, when he crossed to Roger in the 45th minute. The Spanish midfielder fired the ball in the low corner for his first Ajax goal.
Ajax continued their dominance in the second half. Huntelaar scored his second goal with a header; the cross was provided by Wesley Sneijder. To make matters even worse for Vitesse, Ruud Knol was sent off after he fouled Huntelaar in the 58th minute. With Ajax already playing well, Vitesse's coach Aad de Mos feared for the biggest los of his career. ,,Ajax played very good combination football and we were reduced to ten.
